Where is Nick?

Beginning October 1st, I will be living and working in Herrera del Duque, a small pueblo located about three hours southwest of Madrid.

My new hometown has a great website (in Spanish), and you can take a virtual tour here.

Herrera del Duque is located in the autonomous community (province) of Extremadura.  This area receives less tourist traffic than other parts of Spain, and for this reason is considered by many to be “unspoilt” Spain.

A few centuries ago, Extremadura was quite the happening place.  It is the birthplace of some of Spain’s most celebrated conquistadors including Hernán Cortés and Vasco Núñez de Balboa.  It was an important stronghold of the Roman empire and the city of Mérida, Extremadura’s capital, was at one time the capital of the Roman province of Lusitania.

Hey Nick:
Its been great following your travels thru your website.
My sister Sue’s son Sean and his wife Anneke are having a late honeymoon (holiday) and are now stationed in Barcelona for a couple of months. How far away is that? In case you want to get in touch with him this is Sean Kelly’s email:
