Holy Week in Ireland

by Nick on March 26, 2010

To add to the list of things that make me the luckiest guy on the face of the planet, I am headed to Ireland on Monday to spend our school holiday – a full week – in Dublin and Belfast.

In general, the plan is as follows…

Monday: I will meet (for the first time) and have dinner with a cousin of mine who works for the Irish Parliament and has been living in Dublin for almost 10 years.

Tuesday: See as much of the city as possible before I reconnect with a fellow Belmont graduate and fraternity brother and meet his wife and daughters for dinner.

Wednesday: I’m off to Belfast by bus, where I’ll meet up with a good friend and fellow English teacher whose family lives in a town outside of Belfast. Afternoon in the city.

Thursday: We’ll road trip to the north coast and (according to my friend) walk a rather treacherous looking rope bridge situated over the rocky coast (I’ll definitely have to see it in person before I decide to cross).

Friday: Explore Belfast city during my last full day in Ireland.

Saturday: Early morning flight back to Spain.

This looks safe, right?

It’s going to be an amazing trip. But, since I don’t head out until Monday, my buddy Javi (who just happens to have two motorcycles) and I are taking a moto day trip tomorrow to a nearby city. It will be my first time riding more than a mile or two, but I’ve been practicing all week, and I feel good about it. I’ll post a quick update later this weekend to tell you how it went.
